Chimwemwe ‘Gatuso’ Idana’s 21st minute goal into the first half, sealed a win for Silver Strikers ‘the Central Bankers’ against MAFCO FC in a TNM Super League match on Sunday at Bingu National Stadium.

Idana got the assist from Stain Davie after capitalising from MAFCO player, Paul Ndlovu’s miss-passing of the ball.

During second half, the Central Bankers ensured to control their Malawi College of Armed Forces opponents from leveling the scoreline through offensive, since they knew it was important to get back to the top spot.

The Central Bankers now clings top of the 2023 TNM Super League table with 21 points, ousting FCB Nyasa Big Bullets who 24-hours ago topped the table after beating Ekwendeni Hammers 4-1 on Saturday.

Speaking after the game Silver Strikers Head Coach Hendrikus Pieter De Jongh expressed optimism for his team’s future after it keeps creating many scoring chances and hold a fair play.

“We create a lot of chances in every game, and this is our system of play. We are an offensive team.” elaborated De Jongh.

On the other hand, MAFCO FC Head Coach Prichard Mwanza conceded defeat, but pointed out of the mistaken touch on Paul Ndlovu that caused them to lose 3 points.

“It was too good to see my boys playing, but only one mistake that we did as we lost our shape and touch. We tried our best to come back into the second half but we didn’t make a breakthrough.” explained Mwanza.

Mwanza however expressed the need to work on finishing tactics on his team, saying they missed other scoring opportunities because of poor finishing touches.

Meanwhile, Tatenda M’balaka for Silver Strikers was crowned as Man of the Match and wallet-away with K50, 000 of TNM Mpamba.

In other TNM Super League matches on Sunday 11th June, 2023 ended as follows: Kamuzu Barracks moved from 13th position last week to 8th this week with 11 points after beating Bangwe All Stars 2-0.

Blue Eagles drew one-all at home to Civil Service Sporting Club, Red Lions won 1-0 against Chitipa United at Balaka, and the Kaning’ina Soldiers, Moyale Barracks beat Dedza Dynamos 2-0 at Mzuzu Stadium.
