The UTM and MCP alliance has collapsed. UTM is the biggest casualty and MCP wins it all. Chilima won’t get the presidency through the Tonse Alliance. Therefore, Chilima and UTM Strategy Team need an alternative plan where the outcome would give Chilima a chance to become president and punish MCP for this betrayal.

Therefore, Chilima and UTM need new partnership to accomplish this and there is no better and stronger partner than the DPP.
Both, DPP and UTM have MCP as a common enemy and they both stand to benefit hugely if MCP is kicked out of the way.
Now, the case of nullification of Chakwera’s presidency is the strongest weapon that both DPP and UTM could benefit from because if the Constitutional Court could nullify the presidency of Chakwera – this is possible since the case is there – it means we would go back to the 2019 situation where Mutharika will be President and Chilima will be Vice President.
How would that help Chilima and DPP?
In Presidential Elections that would follow Chakweras nullification, Mutharika and DPP would team up with Chilima and UTM. This time around, Chilima could be made the presidential candidate and DPP would bring the running mate who would obviously NOT be Kondwani Nankhumwa.
MCP could not win that election.
Of course, there would be negotiations if DPP would have to allow Chilima to be candidate, but I am 100% sure that they have all learned their lessons. Palibe angakulire mzake mtima. THEREFORE, UTM COULD TEAM UP WITH DPP ON THIS NULLIFICATION CASE – Osakwiya. Ndungocheza ine

Wishful thinking!! You think the court can nullify the election of Chakwera based on DPP electoral commissioners’ removal?
Please understand that at the time of fresh presidential elections, the commission was legal since it was sworn in based on the laws of Malawi and there were no electoral complaints from the losers during that time. The fact is Chakwera was elected by the majority vote and no one can reverse that. Mutharika was a minority president after his fraudulent election in 2019. There is no way Malawians can revert to a minority leader while disregarding the rights of the majority- even the courts know that.
The issue about Kunje and company doesn’t dwell on illegality of Chakwera’s election but is a separate issue that dwells on fairness on appointment of electoral commissioners based on the laws of Malawi. Having said this, Mutharika deliberately disregarded the law in order for his party to be the beneficiary in the election by having the commission’s composition tilted in his party’s favor. Remember judge Kenyatta Nyirenda said that the removal of the commissioners doesn’t have to do with Chakwera’s election, meaning it’s a separate issue.
The recent remarks by Mutharika at his house in Mangochi are tantamount to treason. Calling a legally elected president by the majority illegitimate or illegal is treasonous and he can be prosecuted.
Mutharika is living in his own fools paradise and is in total denial. He was rejected by Malawians as a bad president and must learn to live with it. DPP should forget about ruling the country and come 2025, the party will be in tatters mark my words.
I totally agree with the analysis but would also add that for it to work for the benefit of both chilima and DPP, Chilima must completely dissolve UTM as a party and join DPP., otherwise malawi will be full of dramas when chilima will also be doing the same agaist dpp when on presidency position which MCP is doing now
Takwiya kale. Tilibe naye ntchito chilima and no sane dpp supporter can dare vote for this guy. Iyi ndi tonse alliance and there is no way some1 can beat democratic process ie avoiding convention and become the president thats total rubbish. Let the guy fights his own battles and should refrain from using courts to sit on the top seat through dubious means. The truth is DPP won the 2019 polls and this very same guy pompously blocked EU to submit its elections’ report and we saw gross constitution manipulation all because of this guy, his relations wanted him to lead. The way people are pushing this guy to the top spot, the more dangerous he is made. Lets democracy talk for us like in 2019 not the use of hands to unleashing hell to scare away other party monitors from the polling centres. I’m afraid utm could be part of the bulling team that intimidated our democracy during the 2020 polling period and as such it has same characters in her as that of her bed fellow, mcp.
This must be a joke of the month. Utm supporters are very interesting and they think like toddlers. They are grabbing every opportunity to have their flag carrier declared the presidential winner ignoring the ballot. There is no way a third popular guy can become a president overnight. All the mess we are in is because of these guys. Our courts down played the constitution by allowing new party formats to compete in a re-run all because of utm’s top guy. To hell with dpp supporters who can indorse this rubbish. Let them outsmart each other in a peaceful democratic way using the secret ballot not torture and intimidation and wishful thinking. I once wished for this guy to have my vote in the future but, he proved to be useless and trash. Dpp woyeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!
