Dozens of opposition UTM party supporters in Nkhatabay district have dumped the party to support the Mighty Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) and United Democratic Front (UDF) alliance.
Minister of Tourism, who is also Member of Parliament for Nkhatabay Central constituency, Symon Vuwa Kaunda welcomed the dozens at Chintheche in the district.
Kaunda said Youth Loans Program, Community Colleges Project, New Nkhatabay District Hospital, Market and various developmental in the district have forced UTM supporters to join the mighty DPP-UDF alliance.
The defectors have since vowed to vote for President Peter Mutharika and his runningmate Atupele Muluzi in the coming elections.
Malawi will hold fresh presidential elections on 23 June 2020 following the nullification of May 2019 elections by the court.
