…Rates MEC at 70% while accusing it of incompetence
Mary Nkosi says she is a Bishop. She is also former deputy governor at Reserve Bank of Malawi, a very senior position in any country.
But when she appeared before the Public Accounts Committee on Monday in her capacity as MEC Commissioner she proved she is very unprincipled as a Bishop and a former top government official.
The Malawi Congress Party Commissioner shocked the nation with how she discredited Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC), only to shock people more by rating the performance of the body at 70%. This is a very strange arithmetic. But it exposes who she is.
During her appearance, Nkosi who was once fingered for backstabbing her boss at the Reserve Bank Of Malawi, started hitting at fellow commissioners. We can reveal that all her tantrums were driven by self interest – not public service.
First, why did she not resign when she noted that things were being done wrongly? She was asked this question. Her response? She said she did not want to lose terminal benefits and the opulent cruiser she drives on the purse of the commission.
So, what is her integrity if she failed to resign from the commission whose integrity she questions?
What is her integrity when she continued to draw fat allowances and other benefits from an institution whose integrity she questions?
People like Mary Nkosi are the problem we cannot make progress as a country. The see wrong and fail to condemn it but continue to eat from it.
It is just as well that this case has gone this far because we would not have known Mary Nkosi’s true character that she is a woman of no integrity and a very bad citizen.
Talk about hypocrisy and she comes out as a perfect example of it. A Bishop who saw wrong, tolerated it because she was benefiting from it, and spoke out only after being dragged to a hearing or she would kept it in her heart for life.
A story is told that at the Living waters Church where she prays and was once second in command, she used to go behind the back of one of the church’s leaders gossiping about him in home cells and church groupings.
That came through at that PAC hearing where, she caught herself lying. She was shocked when she learnt that what she was saying was live on air.
She had thought that she would backstab fellow commissioners and go away with it, without others knowing what happened behind the curtains.
More details are emerging. The MCP representative in the commission laid into fellow commissioners to appease her political masters who have promised her a lucrative job to lead one of the statutory corporations in the country if they ever make it into power. The Bishop is selling her soul for a few pounds.
And then the 70% grade to MEC. That exposes what she had as truth about MEC performance, the truth which she covered with lies that shocked herself.
It does not make any sense. There is no way anyone would give that appalling review she did of MEC and then give a final score of a staggering 70%. Or Mary Nkosi is a mediocre arithmetician and economist who may have falsified economic figures at Reserve Bank. Perhaps, this is a call for the nation to dig into the figures of her Reserve Bank days. Who knows there are funny equations and falsified maths she kept in the lockers there.
And more suspect is her bishopric! She may be misleading souls to hell.
