Former Veep Chilima Urges Malawians to Accept Court Verdict

Malawi’s immediate past vice president, Saulos Chilima, who is also leader for the opposition UTM party on Thursday urged Malawians to accept presidential elections case verdict which will be delivered on Monday.

Chilima who is the first petitioner in the presidential elections case was speaking during a presser which was held in Lilongwe. He also called upon the losing party to accept in ruling.

“My fellow Malawians, when the decision of the court is made, I urge the losing party to accept the loss with humility knowing that justice has prevailed.

 I also urge the winning party to celebrate with grace and civility knowing that there also people who mean well on the opposing side,” said Chilima

Recently, Malawi President Professor Peter Mutharika also called upon Malawians to accept court verdict.

In the presidential elections case, Chilima and Lazarus Chakwera of Malawi Congress Party (MCP) both contested on presidential seat are challenging the outcome of the 21 May Presidential elections.

The Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) declared Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) candidate Professor Mutharika as a winner.
