The ruling Mighty Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) has planned massive campaign rallies ahead of fresh Presidential Elections which will be conducted July this year, Party’s Director of Elections Dr. Ben Phiri confirmed.
Dr. Phiri also known as the field marshal was speaking in Mangochi on Tuesday during the elevation and installation of eight traditional leaders at Mangochi Stadium, a ceremony which was highly patronized.
He said DPP was ready to defend 21 May 2019 victory and appealed to people mainly from the Eastern region to continue supporting President Arthur Peter Mutharika and the ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP).
“Historically DPP has never lost an election and we will win the forth coming elections with a landslide victory. We will knock out the opposition,” said Dr. Phiri, who is a Minister of Local Government and Rural Development in President Mutharika’s administration.
In his remarks, Senior Chief Jalasi of Mangochi district said chiefs from the district will continue to work with President Mutharika’s administration until death.
The Constitution Court in Lilongwe on Monday nullified the May, 2019 presidential Elections and called for fresh polls within 150 days.
