Anglican’s Bishop Malasa Congratulates newly elected Muslim Association of Malawi leadership

CONGRATULATIONS: The newly elected Muslim Association of Malawi leadership

Bishop Brighton Malasa of the Anglican Diocese of the Upper Shire has congratulated newly elected Muslim Association of Malawi leadership for successfully electing their leadership for the next tenure of office.

Bishop Malasa has also sent special congratulations to Sheikh Idrissa Muhammad for being re-elected as Muslim Association of Malawi (MAM) National Chairperson.

MAM’s Board of Trustee Chairperson, Sheikh Ali Kennedy confirmed Sheikh Muhammad’s re-election on Sunday saying the council decided to maintain the leadership of the association.

In his congratulatory message Bishop Masala said he wish Allah’s blessings upon him (Sheikh Idrissa Muhammad) as he spearheads the leadership of MAM.

“We would like to Congratulate and wish every blessings the newly elected Muslim Association of Malawi leadership for successfully electing their leadership for the next tenure of office.

“Special congratulations should go to Sheikh Idrissa Muhammad for having being elected as National Chairman to spearhead leadership for this eminent Muslim body in Malawi,” said Bishop Malasa

According to Sheikh Kennedy, the council has also maintained Sheikh Yusuf Chibwana as Vice Chairperson.

In an interview with a local press, Sheikh Ali Kennedy said the trustee expects the MAM leadership to promote peace and unity.

“We expect the leadership to strengthen co-existence with other members in the society as MAM believes in unity,” said Sheikh Ali Kennedy Sheikh Muhammad and his vice Chibwana will serve the association for next ten years, thus according to the MAM’s constitution which was amended in 2017.

Muslim Association of Malawi (MAM), which the oldest Muslim body in the country, was established in 1994.
