Batisoni’s late goal seal Civil Service Win

Chikaiko Batisoni’s 90th minute goal sealed a win for the Civil Service Sporting Club against Bangwe All Stars 2-1 in a TNM Super League match played on Sunday at Civil Stadium in Lilongwe.

Though, Civil Service poorly managed the match as the Blantyre side out played them through the midfield and upfront, made spectators enjoy the match.

Bitwell Katinji scored the opener in the 2nd minute of the match, but Bangwe proved that they can hold on the ball and win possession through the first half.

In the 81st minute, Rahman John, Bangwe All Stars goalkeeper scored an equalizer through free-kick he played few meters away from the center-circle, and this made Civil to panic. Fortunately, Batisoni hit the back of the net few minutes later for his team carry the day.

Timothy Silwimba grabbed man of the match title, and got away with K50, 000 of TNM Mpamba.

Speaking after the match, Civil Assistant Coach Wilson Chidathi thanked God for the unexpected victory as they thought match would end on a tie.

Chidathi said, “It was a tricky fixture considering the fact that our friends are below the league table, so they came hard for us but we are luck we got three points.”

In his response, Bangwe All Stars Coach Mabvuto Lungu expressed disappointment with the late goal citing lack of concentration towards dying minutes of the match, as of the fact he conceded defeat.

However, Lungu expressed concern over match officiation saying the match would have ended a draw or win for his team, since the referee failed to give out penalties following incidents occurred inside the box.

With confidence, Bangwe All Stars Coach explained that his team will rise again and do better in the top-fright league as still more matches to come.

This means Civil is now on position 9 with 14 points while Bangwe on 15th with 9 points on TNM Super League log table.

In other TNM Super League match week 11, Dedza Dynamos beat MAFCO FC 2-1, Kamuzu Barracks won away to Mighty Tigers 1-0 and Ekwendeni Hammers won against (Nkhwazi from Area 30) Blue Eagles 1-0.
