Chakwera’s Failure Plunges Blantyre Govt Offices in Darkness

Blantyre Government Complex- Credit Nation Online

Economic lapses in President Lazarus Chakwera’s Tonse Administration have reached unprecedented levels.

As if the rising cost of living is not enough, Blantyre Government offices have suspended operations after Electricity Supply Corporation of Malawi (ESCOM) cut power.

ESCOM’s Senior Public Relations Officer, Innocent Chitosi, says the office complex owes them K11 million.

  1. There are some things one can hide up to a certain point but as time goes the indicators of doom and gloom rare their ugly head for everyone to see. All along the Tonse Alliance ‘Praise and Worship’ crew continuously have been defending mediocrity such that one wondered if they really had any semblance of sanity/normality. Now what do they have to tell us concerning the administrations inability to honour their utility bills payment?

Just a couple of days ago we heard and saw the president departing for the USA to represent countries who are underdeveloped and poor at a conference there. For him to travel it required possibly the same amount if not slightly less/more than his government owes Escom. I had a difficult time to listen/bear with the Times TV Anchormen who were at pains and had difficulties when it came to describe the president’s principal aim and his capacity to that conference – that he was standing for the rest of poverty-stricken nations of the world and he confidently and willingly assumed the “Title” without any shame and second thought, really? As poor as we are why not simply sit at home and sort out the sick economy and the natural calamities Malawians are going through other than going all the way to the USA with a begging bowl in hand just to further expose our level of thinking and in so doing dragging further the impoverished citizens into the dire unrelenting quagmire? How many times does he need Malawians to plead with him to reduce his tendency of being on the move? If he doesn’t care for the social welfare of the poor and even average well to do people, there are others out there who do but they can’t do much now because their resources are very minimal. What is happening is really sheer inhumane and despicable from a leader who apparently doubles as a parent, head of a country and a retired pastor.
