Few days after President Lazarus Chakwera flew back home from the UK, ranting towards Malawians for criticising his administration’s nepotistic and corrupt activities, his son Pastor Nick Chakwera, was in court seeking judgement over defamation claims.
In a court ruling making rounds on the social media that Cables have seen, the young Chakwera, who is also a Pastor, sued Social media activist Joshua Chisa Mbele on alleged “defamatory” remarks made on facebook.
In ruling, the high court in Lilongwe has ruled that Mbele issues a public apology on his facebook page and also the same in the country’s two widely circulated daily newspapers, two times a week, for four weeks.
Mbele has also been ordered to retract the said material on his facebook page.
However, analysts have faulted the Chakwera family for victimizing Malawians over free speech when they are beneficiaries of the same during the fight against the DPP.
Mbele was not immediately available to comment on the matter when Cables tried to contact him.
