Ministry of Heath has confirmed six additional cases of Covid-19 bringing the total number of confirmed cases in Malawi to 23 from 17 cases.
Principal Secretary for the Ministry Of Health, Dr. Dan Namarika confirmed the new cases during a presser held in Blantyre.
He said out of the 6 cases, 5 cases are from Kaliyeka in Lilongwe and 1 from area 25.
According to Dr. Namarika, three patients recently travelled to India and Tanzania while others contracted the virus through contacts with patients.
He also made a shocking revelation saying Lilongwe maybe the most Covid 19 risk area with an estimated 1.5 million cases by the end of 2020.
Meanwhile, efforts are under way to trace those who have been in contact with the recently confirmed coronavirus positive cases.
Can I ask, do you still think lockdown should be avoided in Malawi? People we will die! lets lockdown and contain this pandemic in our country! rich countries are not coping with this infection whats more with us with noo resources to manage! Please see your senses , support the president! or the country will be wiped out!!!
Lockdown can’t work to prevent the spread of the virus when we are allowing people through our borders coming back from high risk areas without putting them in quarantine centres.
Closing borders is exactly the first step that all sensible governments did all over the world and I would suggest that this is what our government should have done much much earlier rather that focusing on locking down our own citizens in their homes, just because the government want to stop the July election at all cost.
Why are we still allowing people coming from covid 19 high risk areas and countries like India to enter our country when we want to lock down our own citizens in their homes?
Why did the government go to town on Judge Kenyatta for releasing those three Chinese people when our immigration officers are still allowing other people to enter our country from those high risk areas without holding them in quarantine centres?
It looks like this government want coronavirus to spread so that we should not have elections this year….but that will not work.
