The Church of Central Africa Presbyterian (CCAP)–Blantyre Synod has urged Malawians to vote for a president who will continue developing the county.
Blantyre Synod General Secretary, Reverend Dr. Billy Gama made the appeal on Friday through a press statement dated 27 March 2020 ahead of July Fresh Presidential elections.
“Blantyre Synod would like to appeal to Malawians to elect leaders who will continue to transform Malawi,” said Dr. Gama
The Blantyre Synod CEO, Dr. Gama also called upon Malawians to register in their numbers saying casting vote is a democratic and constitutional right for every citizen of the country.
“We are calling upon all Christians and patriotic Malawians to go and register starting from 4th April in line with Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) calendar.
It is constitutional right for every Malawian to participate in an election through voting,” said Rev. Dr. Gama
The synod further called upon political parties and other stakeholders to stop interfering with MEC operations.
“MEC should be accorded the right perception to do its work impartially and to the common good of all well-meaning Malawians,” said Gama while calling for violent free electoral period.
According to MEC Colander, Malawi will hold fresh presidential polls on 2 of July 2020 as the date for fresh presidential elections, which is the 149th day of the 150 days as per Constitutional Court ruling delivered on February 3, this year.
