Mangochi Monkey Bay legislator, Honorable Ralph Pacharo Jooma has shot down flying rumours that he’s joining the Malawi Congress Party (MCP) and going out of the main opposition Democratic Progressive Party (DPP).
“I am actually appalled by these baseless rumors that I am joining MCP. The fact is that I am not doing that and I have never thought of doing that,” explained Jooma.
“I am and shall remain a member of DPP. I will continue to serve DPP not only as a member but also as National Director of Economic Affairs.”
As the run up to the 2025 elections heats up, a lot of rumours of repositioning and defections are abound, particularly being used by rivals to diminish the relevance of their competition.
Jooma became Mangochi Monkey Bay legislator in 2019 on DPP’s ticket, only being trailed by MCP’s Gerald Kazembe who scooped just a little over 9,000 votes.
