Malawi court declares Chinese racist Susu ‘persona non grata’

The Magistrate court in Lilongwe has sentenced Chinese national Lu Ke, widely known as Susu, to 12 months imprisonment with hard labour.

This means the convict will be freed having been in custody for 12 months since his arrest on 16 July 2022.

The Court has ordered Susu to leave the country within seven days and to never return to Malawi.  Susu has been convicted on his plea of guilty.

Both sides asked the court to be considerate considering the convict has been in custody for a year and is the first offender who has also shown remorse for his actions.

State Advocate Dzikondiathu Malunda also told the Court the convict has already paid K16 million to the government to be used as compensation to the victims and the other part of the money will be channeled to community social responsibility activities and uplifting the life of school-going children in Njewa in Lilongwe.

Susu was arrested and dragged to court for procuring children for use of entertainment, singing and asking them to repeat after him, using racially derogatory words or songs which the involved children did not understand.
