Details have emerged that the new Secretary to the President and Cabinet Colleen Zamba interfered with the procurement of a dialysis machine at Kamuzu Central Hospital (KCH) when she was chief advisor to President Lazarus Chakwera.
The scam has been exposed on Malawi Medical Doctors WhatsApp group where KCH director Jonathan Ngoma disclosed that Zamba went to his office and edited documents on his computer and made him sign to expedite the process of getting the dialysis machine.
According to the posts, Zamba interfered with the procurement to avert a vigil which patients guardians threatened to hold at State House if dialysis machine was not procured.
Zamba’s appointment as SPC on May 31, 2022 ignited the discussion on the doctors’ forum with some praising her that she delivers on what she says giving an example of the dialysis machine.
But some doctors questioned her interference in the procurement at KCH which did not fall under her jurisdiction.
