MBC to Beam Live All Flames AFCON Matches

The Malawi Broadcasting Corporation (MBC) has assured Malawians that it will cover live all the remaining Flames matches in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.

MBC’s Director-General, George Kasakula, said the public broadcaster acquired the 2023 AFCON qualifiers’ rights last year.

“I can assure all Malawians that they will be watching the Flames wherever they go including the one they will play against Guinea this coming Thursday. Last year’s AFCON finals package that we secured included rights for the 2023 qualifiers and our partners have assured us that they will give us feed starting this Thursday,” said Kasakula.

He has however asked the corporate world to take advantage of the opportunity and advertise their products during the matches.

“The fact that we can show these games, does not mean we got the rights for free. We paid a lot of money to buy these rights, so we need support from the corporate world and well-meaning individuals so that MBC should be able to subsidise the cost of paying for the rights.” He said.

The Flames’ next game will be played this Thursday away in Guinea and will kick off at 6 pm local time.

Currently the Flames anchor Group D with 3 points after outshining Ethiopia with a 2-1 win at Bingu National Stadium last Sunday, the match which was also live on MBC TV and its two radio stations.- (Story Credit: Amin Mussa, MBC)
