Angry Ward Councillors Seal Lilongwe City Council Offices

Angry Ward Councillors from Lilongwe City Council (LCC) have sealed the office of Lilongwe City Chief Executive Officer over delayed salaries.

The Councillors are demanding resignation of CEO, John Chome, Director of Finance and the Director of Human Resources at the council.

Lilongwe Mayor, Juliana Kaduya, told Times 360 that she received a letter from the city officials this week, communicating that there are no funds for November salaries for staff at the council.

Kaduya says the council says, instead, only junior officers will get their salaries while the rest will get their salaries later, without mentioning the exact date.

She claims that even the Chairperson of Finance Committee is not aware that the council does not have money.

The Councillors claim that this is incompetence hence the demand for the resignations.

  1. The Mayor for Lilongwe literally took it upon herself to go and reopen Malawi Congress Party headquarters who apparently owe the city millions of money after the building was locked up, then today she wants to play the saint when she was a few days ago pleasing her masters disregarding the worker, really? In this case will you say its the fault of a CADET or rather the useless and stinking rubble Chskwera and Chilima are congregating? Much as you people may try to completely kill the opposition using all the unconstitutional means, you will suffocate yourselves through amateurish management with your suicidal kamikaze malpractices. God has ways and means to lay bare and expose cheats and crooks, mainly when the system is superimposed onto the people. Chakwera has to find money to pay these souls whose families are looking up to the breadwinners to feed them, who are unfortunately being short-changed. Although you do all the parrying to avoid and runaway from responsibilities and blame, it will still find you in your offices and bedrooms. Cheap talk will not solve anything. Mwakula mwatha, muona kuti mupanga bwanji mbuto zonse zobera zikatha.
