Unicaf University Malawi (UUM) continues delivery of its online academic programmes through its state of the art online digital platform.
Despite having closed facilities following government order that all learning institution be closed by March 23, 2020, to restrain Coronavirus pandemic.
Unicaf University students are continuing their studies from home using the Virtual Learning Environment (VLE), which provides easy access to study materials, e-libraries and forums to connect with fellow students and tutors from 156 countries around the global.
UUM, Vice Chancellor Prof. Joseph Kuthemba Mwale Thursday in Lilongwe said it was business as usual for the institution.
“UUM facilitates online delivery of study materials through the Unicaf State of the art digital platform, online learning is gaining ground as an efficient and reliable way to impart new knowledge, skills and qualifications to students around the globe,” he said.
Mwale added that through the Unicaf, VLE students could access study materials using any mobile or desktop electronic device connected to the internet.
“Our students have access to study materials and are in regular contact with their tutors and fellow students online,” he stated.
The Vice chancellor underlined the use of modern technologies and methods like videos quizzes and group projects in delivering online and the universities Bachelor’s, Master’s or Doctoral degree and professional Development Short courses.
Malawi has already registered eight confirmed cases with one death of Ccovid-19 and the country has not decided to enforce a full lockdown like in other countries.
However working professionals, students including everyone have been advised to practice social distancing and staying at home.
The measures have affected a lot of University students by forcing them to put their studies on hold, which is different with Unicaf students because they can continue their studies through online learning.
Unicaf is currently assisting other institutions worldwide to go online and exploring similar opportunities with Malawian Institutions so that they continue to serve their students.
The whole world remains under siege by the Coronavirus, which has already affected people in several African Countries including the country’s neighbours, Tanzania, Mozambique and Zambia.
