Nkhata Bay Youth Network Cheers Patients

Nkhata Bay Youth Network on Saturday donated K118, 000 worth of groceries and shared the Gospel to patients at Nkhata Bay District Hospital.

The donation included sugar, bread, bath and wash soap and salt.

Chad Mwazinga who had been in the hospital for two weeks after surviving a car accident could not hide his joy after receiving a donation.

“I have been here for a while. The male ward does not receive such kind of visitors, it is always the children and women. Thank you for remembering us,” he said.

Similarly, Pardon Phiri described the event as extra ordinary and lesson learnt.

“For young people to do this using their own money and taking time to share the gospel in this modern age, it something very encouraging,” he said.

Nkhata Bay Youth Network Chairperson, Catherine Mkandawire said the youth network failed to reach out to many patients due to little financial resources they raised from members.

“This was entirely a self-sponsored event, each and every member contributed towards the event and we managed to raise K118, 000 which we used to buy everything that we brought,” she explained.

Mkandawire added that the network is aspiring to do even more charity activities this year.

“We intend to spread the sharing spirit this year, we are planning on reach out to patients in each and every ward and even go to our district prison and share the word of hope with the afflicted,“ she pointed out.

Nkhata Bay Youth network is an umbrella of all youth networks in the district.
