Weight Lifting and Body Building Association of Malawi (Wabam) will next month hold its elective annual general meeting (AGM) after failing to hold it for the past 12 years.
Wabam’s General Secretary Harlod Mwayang’ana confirmed in an interview Wednesday that the association has sorted out the problems it had and that it is now set for the AGM.
“The problems that we had for the past years have been rectified and I am positive that this year’s meeting will be a successful one,” Mwayang’ana said.
He said the meeting is scheduled for Saturday 29th February, 2020 and all registered clubs, represented by chairman, secretary and treasurer, are expected to attend.
“We expect athletes to form clubs and have them registered for them to be taken as serious members and eligible voters.
“All we want is order and free participation so that we uplift this sport together,” he said.
National Council of Sports Executive Director Chifundo Suzanne Mbenjere said he is looking forward to this meeting and expects that the association will handle the elective AGM properly and guided by their constitution.
