The Ministry of Health has ordered public hospitals to stop demanding police reports before treating injured patients.
The order follows outcry from many Malawians seeking services from public hospitals across the country.
A memo from Secretary for Health Dr. Charles Mwansambo says the requirement is not supported by law.
He says demanding police report before assisting patients risk lives of people in need of urgent treatment.
