Thyolo, May 13, Mana: Running mate for the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) and United Democratic Front (UDF) (DPP/UDF) alliance Atupele Muluzi has reiterated that the ‘Tonse Alliance’ candidate Lazarus Chakwera is a ‘learner’ not fit for presidency in the forthcoming fresh presidential polls.
He made the remarks on Tuesday during a whistle stop campaign tour in Blantyre, Mulanje and Thyolo.
According to Muluzi, President Prof. Peter Mutharika is an experienced and patient leader who needs to develop.
“I wonder that there is someone who wants to drive the bus (Malawi)?…aaah no! It is only President Mutharika who has displayed leadership over the past ten months of unrest in the country,” he said.
Muluzi urged DPP and UDF supporters to vote for President Mutharika, whom he described as a patient leader, on July 2, 2020.
“President Mutharika is the Commander in-Chief of the Armed forces and Malawi Police Service, but he did not order officers to shoot demonstrators during the 10 months of political violence. This shows that he is patient,” the Running mate added.
He promised people of more developments should DPP/UDF alliance win the elections.
Vice president for DPP in the southern region, Kondwani Nankhumwa commended President Mutharika for choosing Atupele Muluzi as a running mate.
“Let me thank the president for trusting Atupele Muluzi who is youthful with the vice presidency,” Nankhumwa said.
On July 2, Malawi is expected to hold fresh presidential polls after the Supreme Court of Appeal agreed with the Constitutional Court’s ruling to annul the May 21, 2019 elections citing massive irregularities.

Ife nanga tabwezera zomwe mukupanga ku central region zija? Simuli pa mtendere kuno ku south? So to say Chakwera is not fit for presidency it’s really true I do support that.
