Despite the regret for normalising an abnormal action thereby legalising it, MCP stood shoulder to shoulder with DPP! Either through hook or crook DPP tamed MCP.
WHAT SHOULD MCP HAVE DONE?
Either MCP and other oposing MPs should have blocked the vote by voting against it OR Opposition should have suggested a better proposition such as allocating it to Health or Education(Student loan, in my mind) or any other area. Or indeed do exactly as they did;allocate to rural development as status quo is st the moment. MCP failed to show their spine in time and character. Now its too late to redeem itself. It smacks hypocrisy no matter what it does. This yoyo tendency of doing things is troublesome..Dont wait for reaction to reat, be proactive, principled and bold and take a stand and defend it..True leadership.
MCP TO LOSE OUT
Since money is already allocated, nothing can reverse it unless parliament does so or Minister of Finance ignores funding the votes. DPP MPs will use the allocations and develop their constituencies while MCP will naively reject and let their constituences suffer. This will decampaign MCP big time. MCP be pragmatic, go ahead and develop your constituences..Dont be holier than thou when you failed when it mattered most. This is another strategic error self inflicted..wakulozani ndani? I can foresee divisions rising from this ill conceived decision-other MPs will want to develop their constituences(rightly so) to increase their chances of retaining their seats.
APPEAL TO MCP
Swallow your pride, be pragmatic and follow through your decision in parliament.Develop your constituences or risk losing more seats to independents or indeed DPP.
Don’t waiver in decision making, consult widely before coming up with a consensus decision.
Never shoot yourself in the foot, not now.
