The legendary female boxer, Agnes Mtimaukanena Mwando will return to the ring after a long time without showing her jabs and uppercuts, when she faces a Tanzanian female boxer, Egine Andengenye Kayange in a six round non-title bout.
The bout is scheduled for July 29th 2018 at Robins Park in Blantyre starting from 1pm.
Mtimaukanena revealed to Malawi News Agency that she is very excited to be back in the ring after a long break especially for being able to train.
“I am very happy to be back in the ring again and for being given a chance and so much support by my promoter, my husband, my coach, my team and all my fans; they have given me so much courage to get back into the ring.
“During my break, I have learnt that in everything I do, it’s all about passion and hard work and I am also proud seeing boxing at another level especially on the international scene and I promise my fans that I will carry the day,” said Mtimaukanena.
Speaking to the Malawi News Agency, Robin Alufandika of the Alufandika Boxing Promotions that have organized the bout said this is a great opportunity for Malawians to watch their former female champion boxer after an absence from the sport.
“We have also good supporting bouts on the day but this international non-title bout is very interesting as the opponent of Mtimaukanena is also tough and it will be very interesting to watch who will carry the day,” added Alufandika.
As curtain raisers, Harvey Nkacha will date Brighton Mwando, Snoden Munyanja will face Yamikani Mtambo, Tinkhani Kamanga will battle it out with Pemphero Nkhoma and Jonas Kakwere will fight with Bwanali Magalasi.
