Man Arrested from Hospital Bed for Stealing

malawi-policeThe police in Limbe,Blantyre are keeping in custody Peter Zili Chimdika 43 for stealing money amounting to k5 million.

According to Limbe police publicist Sergeant Widson Nhlane the suspect Peter Zili Chimdika who was working as a driver for Xiu Sheng company on 9 June this year of 2016 went away with the said money as he was coming from bank where his boss was withdrawing.

Nhlane further said that as the two were on there way back from the bank the two made a stop over at Sky electronics shop in Limbe where the boss wanted to buy a mobile phone.

“As the boss was in the shop and the driver was left alone together with the cash in the car,the suspect driver drive off the car and went away with the company money.” said Nhlane

The police publicist further added that after the driver went away we the car and the money he parked the car at Maselema Peoples shop and fled to South Africa.

According to the police after a stint stay in South Africa the suspect returned home and secured a job at Trans Nazil as a driver again.

“It was on 14 September when it was all revealed after the suspect driver was involved in an accident as he was enroute to Beira and he was rushed to Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital in Blantyre where some well wishers recognised and tipped relevant authorities,” said Nhlane

Currently the suspect have been discharged from hospital and the police are still investigating to recover the stolen money.

The suspect Peter Zili Chimdika hails from Makunje village in the area of traditional authority (T/A) Kunthembwe in Blantyre- By Geoffrey Chinawa
