Brick & Lace Jet In For Showdown: Net Proceeds To Purchase Maternal Health Centre Items

By Justice Mponda

Jamaican dance hall divas Brick and Lace jetted into the country yesterday evening for a showdown this Sunday at Limbe Country Club.

Upon arrival, the Love is wicked duo cruised straight to the magnificent Malawi Sun Hotel in the commercial city of Blantyre where they briefed the press about their tour.

Coming straight from Zambia where they also had a performance, the two ladies said they would set down to business on Saturday where they convene a five star charity at Malawi Sun Hotel whose proceeds would be used to purchase maternity health care equipment at a yet to be named hospital.

“As women, we feel it is proper to assist fellow mothers through this noble cause. It is important to have proper facilities in our maternity wings because it is a home for every woman,” said Niandra, one of the ladies.

Later, the duo promised to offer Malawians and others a three course performance.

“We see Malawi as one of the beautiful countries with friendly people, so in return for this, we promise to offer Malawians a mouth watering music performance.” Said Niara, another one

Chief Executive Officer for Black Rhino, Tay Grin whose firm is organizing the shows, said that while in the country, the ladies will visit some places of touristic interest.

“We have arranged that they will visit Lake Malawi, Mulanje Moutain and other places of touristic attraction,” he said

On how much has been invested into the whole event, the Nyau King only said: “A lot has been invested. They had there own demand of course, but they were not far fetched, but the goodness is that we have a lot of sponsors who are taking care of most of the bills,” said Tay Grin citing Malawi Sun Hotel, MTL, Capital FM, MBC, Nyau Unit and Kips as some of the sponsors.

Before the main show, the duo will meet its fans for a photograph on Saturday evening (7pm) at Malawi Sun Hotel while enjoying music by 2010 Lake of Stars artist Jimmy Andersen. Three hours later, the same night, they will drive to Twigga Lounge for pre VVIP party.

Tay Grin, Kumbu, Black Missionaries, and Theo Thomson are some of the local acts expected to perform at the music gala.
