The newly elected Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) vice president for Southern Region Kondwani Nankhumwa says his priority is to transform the way the party practices its politics in his region.
Nankhumwa, Local Government and Rural Development Minister and also Mulanje Central Parliamentarian has outclassed cabinet ministers Joseph Mwanamvekha and Henry Mussa to succeed George Chaponda as vice president for the South. Chaponda withdrew at eleventh hour.
“Moving forward, we are going to sit down with the regional leadership and out going leaders to work together on how we can transform the way we do our politics in this region. We want to be practicing politics of inclusiveness,” he said.
Meanwhile, Nankhumwa has described his victory as a birthday gift as he was born on on July 3 1978. He is now 40.
