Breaking News: APM Appoints Nyakwawa Usiwasiwa As New High Court Judge

The President of the Republic of Malawi, His Excellency Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika, in exercise of the powers  conferred upon him by section 111 sub section (2) of the Constitution of the Republic of Malawi  has appointed His Honour Nyakwawa Usiwasiwa as a Judge of the High Court.
Nyakwawa Usiwa-usiwa, was in 2012 promoted from being Blantyre Chief Resident Magistrate to Deputy Registrar at the High Court.

He is well known for handing down lengthy prison sentences to offenders. He came into the limelight in 2010 after slapping two gays, Steve Monjeza and Tionge Chimbalanga with a 14year-long custodial sentence.

His appointment comes barely a month after the unexpected death of George Bakuwa, who died barely two weeks after taking an oath of office as a high court judge.
