Malawi Presidential Task Force On Covid-19 For Transparency

The Presidential Taskforce on COVID – 19 has pledged prudent use of resources in championing Malawi’s fight against the global health pandemic.

Co – Chairpersons for the Taskforce Dr. John Phuka of the College of Medicine and Minister of Finance Joseph Mwanamvekha have made the remarks during a press briefing in Lilongwe.

“As before, issues of transparency and accountability will be highly respected,” said Mwanamvekha, pointing out that officers on COVID – 19 errands will draw their allowances using government rates.

He also said the members have resolved to be apolitical in the course of executing their mandate.

Leader of Opposition in Parliament who is also MCP Legislator for Lilongwe Central Constituency Lobin Lowe spoke in agreement.

“Mine is a word of appeal. Let us join hands in transmitting credible information in the fight against this outbreak,” added Information Minister, Mark Botomani.

In his remarks, Chief Executive Officer of the NGO Board Voice Mhone joined his colleagues in the Taskforce in commending President Professor Mutharika for appointing the all inclusive Taskforce.

“With this inclusivity, you should be assured that Malawi’s fight against the coronavirus pandemic will be enhanced,” added Mhone.

The press briefing on Thursday in Lilongwe is the first by the 21 member Taskforce following its appointment by President Professor Mutharika earlier this month on May 6.-MBC
