Ministry to Engage Stakeholders On Re-Opening Of Schools

The Ministry of Education, Science and Technology has disclosed that it has called for a meeting in Blantyre to discuss what it would take to re-open schools amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.

We need to brainstorm – Saidi

The Principal Secretary in the Ministry of Education, Justin Saidi, made the disclosure Tuesday morning at a press briefing in Blantyre.

He said the meeting comprising education experts, Civil Society Organisations and Policy Makers will take place on Wednesday in Blantyre on Wednesday.

“We plan to meet these stakeholders to map the way forward on this issue. We are aware of the need for students to go back to school.

“However, we are also aware of how congested our schools are and how it can impact on the spread of this pandemic.

We need to brainstorm on the safety of our learners and precautionary measures to be followed and whether we are ready to open,” said Saidi

Malawi government closed public and private schools as a measure of fighting the spread of Covid-19, a deadly disease caused by coronavirus.
