Malawi President Professors Peter Mutharika’s runningmate for the forth-coming fresh presidential elections Atupele Muluzi has promised never to let Malawians down.
Muluzi made the remarks barely a day after President Mutharika unveiled him as Democratic Progressive Party and United Democratic Front (UDF) alliance runningmate.
Muluzi also commended the state president Professor Mutharika for appointing him as his runningmate for the polls slated for 2 July 2020.
“I am grateful and privileged to have been nominated by His Excellency the President and for the opportunity to serve His Excellency and the people of Malawi. I promise not to let you down,” Muluzi posted on his official facebook page on Saturday.
Speaking on Thursday at Mount Soche Hotel after presenting the nomination paper to Malawi Electoral Elections (MEC) president Mutharika said Atupele Muluzi a development conscious leader who will help in developing the country.
“I have decided to work with Atupele Muluzi because he is a person l can work with in developing the country.
Together we are winning the elections, l repeat are winning the elections. This election is not the will of the people,” said Mutharika
The Malawians leader, Professor Mutharika further appealed to Malawians to vote for DPP-UDF alliance for development to continue making good strides in the country.
Malawi Voice, the Supreme Court has clarified that these are not Fresh Elections but Re-run Elections and only voters and candidates who participated in 2019 will participate.
