Ministers Botomani, Mhango Reject Covid-19 Allowance Allegations

Minister of Information Mark Botomani and Minister of Health Jappie Mhango are currently engaging the leadership of the Human Rights Defenders Coalition (HRDC) led by Billy Mayaya in an interface designed to iron out concerns surrounding COVID-19.

Among the concerns are explanations of how the Special Cabinet Committee on Corona virus budgeted and managed awareness activities on the control and management of further spread of the virus.

Mhango says the document that earlier circulated in the social media containing hefty figures in allowances was fake and maliciously doctored.

He reaffirms that no single cabinet minister has received a penny in allowances from the COVID-19 activities budget.

Botomani explains that the circulating video clip of him and Mhango allegedly discussing allowance distribution was gravely misunderstood and misinterpreted.

He says he was trying to express fears of how the public would react after getting the circulating doctored document amid growing fake news and social media paranoia.
