Why MCP-UTM Alliance Is Destined To Fail

The Malawi Congress Party (MCP) and UTM Alliance is a total fallacy, a marriage of convenience and its future hangs in the balance.

This alliance was engineered by HRDC, Livingstonia Synod and the five corrupt judges knowing pretty well that DPP is unshakable, immovable and strong because it has the support of the people of Malawi.

There are clear signs that the alliance is collapsing already. This union cannot work for the number of reasons.

Why UTM cannot allow Chakwera to lead the alliance?

1. Chilima did not consult his team thoroughly and this alliance project was imposed on the party single handedly. Most supporters are not happy at all but are scared to voice out their concerns.

They are actually shocked with the arrangement because Chilima gave them false hopes of Tsogolo Lowala just 12 months ago which has ended up ‘mu khola la tambala.’

2. Chilima is too ambitious to the extent that he is desperately eyeing the top position. God forbid if the association will have Chakwera at the helm of leaderships, Chilima is likely going to kill him as he has already openly indicated such evil intentions with the incumbent President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika. It’s suicidal to trust him. Paja amkatitu ‘Njoka Saweta’…Don’t forget.

3. Remember before May 21 Tripartite Elections in 2019 when he was in DPP, he once ironically said “Udindo wa Vice President Wandichepera”. I don’t believe he is interested in playing second feeble again in the alliance.

4. 75% of Chilima’s followers cannot vote for MCP and shout Kwacha slogans in party rallies. They are disappointed because all they wanted and still want is to belong to UTM and have Chilima as president period.

5. The chances are that most of his team in leadership positions views this as a threat for their ambitions to occupy important positions. They look at MCP as a stumbling block to such ambitions and expectations. They would rather go solo as UTM and lose than make MCP use them to win.

6. Many UTM leaders prefer rejoining the DPP than supporting Chakwera rise to the top at the expense of UTM when all along they have been losing all elections since 1994.

7. Most of the UTM leaders know that should the alliance win the election, there will be trouble because MCP will definitely dump UTM and occupy all the positions in government some of the disgruntled UTM members are smelling a dog and are calling it ubwenzi wa nkhanga ndi njoka wa ndiolotse ndikakutafune patsidya. Atambwali sametana ndithu.

9. UTM has messed up their integrity because they chose to join forces with MCP to employ violent campaign against the same people they would need in order to win elections if they can.

 UTM has realized that they have messed up their image through destruction and terror against people from the South East and all those who belong to DPP. HRDC cheated them to use violence and terror against Malawians and it will be difficult to clean the image.

Why MCP cannot allow Chilima to lead the alliance?

10. Chakwera cannot allow Chilima to lead the alliance because he considers his party as the oldest; therefore Chakwera cannot allow to play second fiddle.

11. MCP knows what Chilima did while in DPP coming straight from the corporate world. If he was so big headed then, what about with a political party of his own? What would he do to MCP? Disaster!!

12. If one of his strategies was to assassinate the incumbent President Professor Mutharika in order to rise to power taking advantage of his position as vice president, what can stop him from doing the same with Chakwera?

13. MCP and UTM supporters are in darkness about who will lead the alliance with UTM members left in the cold not knowing what to do in the face of uncertainty about the alliance.

14. Mia and his wife are already showing signs of dissatisfaction with the alliance knowing for sure they have invested huge sums of money in vain. They are left in the cold.

15. MCP/UTM is a forced marriage of convenience which will not work. The drawback is if they stick to it they will lose support and DPP will have landslide victory. It is a blessing in disguise for DPP.

The tendency for most opposition politicians is that they listen to what they want to hear. They think they can fool all people all the time.

They are about to be sent into chaos and despair very soon because they are deceived by their own selfish ambitions and in trying to please the 5 corrupt judges and Mtambo.
