Voter Registration Starts, DPP Tells Supporters to Register

DPP, UDF Supporters Urged to Register in large numbers

The governing Mighty Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) has urged Malawians to register in large numbers in redness for Fresh Presidential elections in the country.

The voter registration exercise will be done in phases with phase one starting today Saturday, the 4th of April to 17th of April covering districts of Chitipa, Karonga, Salima, Dedza, Ntcheu, Blantyre Rural, Blantyre City and Nsanje.

DPP’s Director of Operations, Innocent Mwai Kamuyambeni said Malawians should register in large numbers and vote for President Professor Peter Mutharika for development to continue making good strides in the country.

“Malawians should go and register in large number during the registration exercise for the fresh presidential elections,” said Kamuyambeni

Recently, Church of Central Africa Presbyterian (CCAP)–Blantyre Synod also called upon Malawians to register in larger numbers in order for them to elect a leader of their choice.

“We are calling upon all Christians and patriotic Malawians to go and register starting from 4th April in line with MEC calendar.  

It is constitutional right for every Malawian to participate in an election through voting,” said Reverend Billy Gama, Synod’s General Secretary.

According to MEC Colander, Malawi will hold fresh presidential polls on 2 of July 2020 as the date for fresh presidential elections, which is the 149th day of the 150 days as per Constitutional Court ruling delivered on February 3, this year.
