Three opposition political parties ward councillors from Ntcheu district have joined the governing Mighty Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) ahead of fresh Presidential elections slated for 2nd July 2020.
The three are Ntcheu district Council Chairperson, Jumbe Kunimba Mambo who is Gomani Chikuse ward councilor (UTM) , Councillor Maurice Maziya of North East ward (UTM) and Peter Ikimasi of Malawi Congress Party (MCP).
In his remarks after welcoming the three on Friday in Ntcheu, DPP’s Vice President for the Eastern Region, Bright Msaka commended them for making right decision.
He further said that ward councilors are foot soldiers in as far as campaign for the fresh presidential elections is concern.
Speaking on behalf of the three, Councillor Mambo said the three have bowed down to pressure from their people, who have been pushing them to join the governing Democratic Progressive Party.
