Fourth Covid-19 Case Confirmed in Malawi

We have another confirmed case in Blantyre-Mhango

Minister of Health and Population Jappie Mhango has confirmed a fourth case of coronavirus in the country.

Mhango, who is the chairperson for a special cabinet committee for coronavirus made the confirmation on Saturday in Lilongwe at a Press Briefing.

According to Mhango, the patient recently traveled to the United Kingdom (UK) and was in self-isolation for 14 days in Blantyre before testing positive.

“I wish to inform you that we have another confirmed case in Blantyre. Tests were done yesterday (Friday) at College Of Medicine laboratory where it was confirmed that results were positive,” confirmed Mhango

He added: “With this new case, Malawi now has four new cases of coronavirus and we can confirm local transmission based on the initial three cases from Lilongwe.”

Malawi President Professor Peter Mutharika confirmed the first three cases of Covid-19 on Thursday.

COVID-19, which is now a global issue, was first discovered in December 2019 in Wuhan City in China.
