Hashmar Shopping Introduces Online Food Order

By Arkangel Tembo

Kondowe: The app is a must have for every Malawian who values time

BLANTYRE, March 30, Mana: One of the leading local online shops in Malawi, Hashmar Shopping’s has introduced a new digital product called Hashmar Food Express.

According to Hashmar Food Express Sales & Marketing Executive, Kattie Kondowe, Hashmar food Express is a digital platform which will allows customers to order food online and get it delivered at their doorstep.

She says this is a product which saves people more hours that they have been spending by looking and queuing for food in a restaurant.

Kondowe said  people  will require  just  to download the app from Google Play Store, signup,  and check  their  nearest restaurant,  before placing  an order and the food will be delivered to them.

Kondowe said through their research, people spend a lot of time just queuing for food instead of doing some other productive things.

“In Malawi, on average, a person spends 238 hours per year waiting for food in a restaurant. That’s minus 60 hours he/she spends per year in search of food outlet. Imagine, spending 10 days per year in your lifetime looking for quality food when you can do it at your fingertips? Sometimes the food comes late and you don’t enjoy it because you are already frustrated. We eat so that we have a good health. So, you can’t be eating while on the other hand you are stressed,” she said.

Kondowe therefore said that the app is a must have for every Malawian who values time.

“We all know time is precious and once it’s gone, it’s gone. Therefore, it is important to use it wisely. The mobile application gives people a freedom to eat what and where they want. You can take your time to check restaurants, browse each menu and buy food according to your budget. And if you stay signed in, you will be receiving many offers from your favourite restaurant. It’s a game changer,” she said.

Currently, the accepted mode of payment is Cash on Delivery and according to Kattie, the company’s engineers are working tirelessly to add more payment methods by early April 2020.

“By then, we will also have our iOS app ready because currently we have an Android version only. We will also launch the website soon so that people can be able to order food from the website as well.  It’s our aim to reach everyone, everywhere they are,” she said.
