Chilima Planning A Stage a Coup D’etat

Chilima: Set for a coup d‘etat to unseat President Mutharika

Former Vice President of the Republic of Malawi Saulos Klaus Chilima who was on Monday controversially reinstated as the country’s second in command is planning a coup d‘etat to unseat President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika, we have established.

Chilima, was on Monday returned as the country’s Vice President by the 5 High Court Judges that were sitting in Lilongwe as a Constitutional Court.

According to our sources in the UTM party of Saulos Chilima, on Tuesday evening a meeting was called at Chilima’s retirement home in the city of Lilongwe to put together the grand plan for an early ouster of President Mutharika.

Our source disclosed that Chilima was meeting leaders of the terrorist group, the HRDC to chart the way forward on future demonstrations for regime change in Malawi.

Apart from Timothy Mtambo, Gift Trapence and Macdold Sembereka who represented the HRDC, the team on Chilima’s side included Khwesi Msusa, Wilkins Mijiga, Patricia Kaliati, Noel Masangwi and Michael Usi.

According to disclosures from the meeting, Chilima is organizing the demonstrations with HRDC to be done twice a week in order to force President Mutharika resign from office and that he (Chilima) takes over power now that technically he is Vice President of the country. HRDC’s Timothy Mtambo has since announced that they will restart demonstrations against Chairperson of the Malawi Electoral Commission, Justice Jane Ansah.

Our source has disclosed that the opposition won the case by among other issues promising Justice Healey Potani of the High Court to be elevated to the Chief Justice position of the country.

Chilima is reported to have promised Potani who is also Chilima’s personal friend that once he wins the Constitutional case and he succeeds in removing President Mutharika, Potani was destined to be named the country’s head of the Judiciary replacing the incumbent, Justice Andrew Nyirenda. Apart from being friends, Chilima and Potani drink heavily together often times.

Apart from the friendship between Chilima and Potani, Chilima’s wife who comes from Mzimba is a niece to one of the Judges that also sat on the same bench of the Constitutional Court, Dingiswayo Madise.

Apart from Potani who sat on the controversial panel of 5 judges handling the Elections Case, the others were Ivy Kamanga, Dingiswayo Madise, Mike Tembo, and Redson Kapindu.

The 5 Judges have come under heavy attack from a majority of Malawians of goodwill for annulling the country’s May 2019 Presidential polls without following the law.

The 5, have since been described as the most corrupt and disgraced members of the bench.

I think it may be important to add that there was an element of Judge shopping on the ConCourt Bench. How come samebench includedJustice Mike Tembo (appointed High Court Judge by President Joyce Banda, fromposition of Court Registrar), Justice Redson Kapindu (also appointed High Court Judge by President Joyce Banda from a South African University where he was a lecturer). Justice Tembo and Justice Kapindu were appointed on the same day (see Nation online of 24 June 2013). Apart from Justice Madise being a relation of Mrs Chilima, he is also an operative of the Peoples Party of Joyce Banda. He was on Khumbo Kachali’s side when Joyce Banda appointed Uladi Mussa as Acting President of the Peoples Party at the time she was living abroad. Justice Madise was actively involved in the stand off. Justice Ivy Kamanga was the Judge that presided on the Treason case of the so called Mid Night Six (although she later recused).Justice Ivy Kamanga was also involved in the protest of Judiciary Officers against the appointment of Justice Maxon Mbendera to the Supreme Court saying she was more senior to Justice Mbendera. Justice Mbendera was MEC Chair that declared APM as winner of the Presidential Elections in 2014 and refused nullification by the then President Joyce Banda. To be honest there is no way that that APM and MEC should have expected anything from such a Court Bench.
