Goodal Gondwe Victory Shakes Mzimba…As Other DPP Gurus Jean Kalilani, Vuwa, Akweni, Gertrude Maseko,Chaponda, Nankhumwa Through
Business came to halt in Mzimba North after Goodal Goodal emerged victorious during the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) primary polls which took place few hours ago in the constituency.
The blue fans paraded throughout the constituency while singing songs of praise to Gondwe who went unopposed during the polls.
Almost all the traditional leaders in the constituency were present at the ceremony. They also endorsed Gondwe describing him as the only true son of the North.
In another development, Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Secretary General Dr. Jean Kalilani went unopposed during the party’s primary elections which were conducted in Dowa Central constituency on Monday.
Presiding officer, Lameck Malimba who is also Central Region director of youth announced that nobody had expressed interest to challenge the incumbent Member of Parliament for the area on a DPP ticket.
“We are proud that people of Dowa Central constituency have trust in Kalilani as such they have decided to give her another chance to contest as a parliamentarian for the area. Our party constitution is open that all interested people are free to contest on primaries and we are not barring anyone” said Malimba.
Malimba said Kalilani has transformed the area by ensuring that in the area has access to other services such as health, education and good road network.
In her remarks Kalilani thanked people in the area and pledged continued support to develop the area.
“I have passion for people in this area, I always make sure that their welfare is my priority and I will continue to bring development in this area “she said
Apart from Gondwe and Kalirani, other DPP heavyweight me who also went unopposed are Kondwani Nankhumwa (Mulanje Central) and Getrude Maseko (Balaka South). Others who have made it are Symon Vuwa Kaunda and George Chaponda.
