New SABC Frequencies For Malawi’s Free To Air Channels

SABC-Logo_2010_sansMalawians Free To Air viewers woke up to a shock of not being able to access SABC channels

through usual frequencies last Monday. To many it didnot come as a surprise following a series of articles published by Malawi Voice that South Africa’s department of information had directed the speedy migration into digital satellite broadcasting as advised by International Communications Union.

ITU insists that all TV channels in the world must migrate into digital to save spectrum which is in short supply due to internet and cellphone. SABC was supposed to be off in many countries by 2011 but there were fears doing so would

affect many South Africans too. Meanwhile SABC channels are accessible via new details as following.

SABC1: Frequency: 15151, symbol rate 23144, Polarisation vertical, SABC2: frequency 15152, Symb 23144, Polar vertical, SABC3 frequency 15153, symb23146, pol vertical

Is this April fool. Give us the channel numbers. One can’t e going into settings all the time to change a channel. Malawians make make our own sitcoms and run them on our mbc. Otherwise mbc wil remain the most boring stationin the universe
