Carlsberg Malawi Closing Shops over Surging Taxes: Paid K11b in Taxes In 2012
Carlsberg Malawi Chief Executive Officer Abel Chanje said the company is the most heavily taxed in the country.
“For instance, in 2012 alone, we remitted K11 billion in taxes alone and this year we expect to pay not less than K15 billion.
“This is really burdening the company and if nothing is done, we are going to shut down in the next 18 months,” said Chanje.
He disclosed that since 2006, taxes have been rising for the company.
