The new conference center, which the Chinese government is constructing in Malawi’s City Centre, will be called Bingu International Conference Centre in honour of President Bingu wa Mutharika.
The building is regarded as one of the greatest infrastructural developments that the DPP government has brought to Malawi and ministers have decided to give it to President Bingu Wa Mutharika.
This was disclosed by tourism Minister Daniel Liwimbi that at the last cabinet meeting Ministers agreed to name the conference after the President’s name.
“This has the blessing of the cabinet because it is where we agreed to name that part of the hotel as Bingu International Conference Centre,” said Liwimbi.
The conference centre is part of the five star, magnificent and state of the art hotel being constructed by the Chinese Government in Lilongwe’s city centre.
The Minister said the entire hotel will be known as Presidents Hotel And will in June host an African Union Summit.
